The Wiener's Circle Makes Good on Ben Johnson Dare
The Bears head coach went shirtless in the locker room after the Bears win over the Eagles. The Wiener's Circle, which issued the shirtless challenge, held up its end with a hot dog giveaway Tuesday 12/2/25.
Apparently Saturday November 29, 2025 will go down as the snowiest November day ever recorded in Chicago. Eight inches fell in some parts of the city. Restaurants, bars, and "L" cars were packed with scarf-clad locals, while Harry Caray (pictured) had to tough it out. Someone get that guy an ice-cold Budweiser. On second thought, maybe a warm Budweiser.
The most amazing thing about the snowstorm? The weather prediction was correct!
Wildcats' Two-Week Stay at Wrigley Field
Northwestern played a pair of close games at The Friendly Confines, losing to Michigan by 24-22 on November 15th and beating Minnesota by 38-35 on November 22nd. The hubbub was significantly bigger for the Michigan game, with national TV broadcasts setting up shop in Murphy's Bleachers' parking lot. Attendance was poor for the Minnesota game.
Although the Chicago Bears played home games at Wrigley for 50 years--before moving to Soldier Field in 1971--the old ballpark isn't ideally suited for football.
"Cool venue, terrible sight lines," a Golden Gopher fan told us.
"We could've played some defense," another Gopher fan lamented. "But really, a cool experience."
Even in defeat, Minnesotans remain polite.

Sammy Sosa has been persona non grata at Wrigley Field since game 162 of the 2004 season. Twenty-one years later, Sammy's back.
Cubs owner Tom Ricketts kicked off the 2025 Cubs Convention with an announcement of this summer's inductees into the Cubs Hall of Fame. All-Star first baseman Derrek Lee will be joined by the franchise's all-time home run leader and prodigal superstar, Sammy Sosa.
Sosa's star quality still glimmers brightly. Deafening "Sammy! Sammy!" chants filled the ballroom of the Sheraton Grand Chicago Ballroom on Friday January 17. Sammy responded to the energy of the crowd with his typical zeal. Sosa ran out to greet the crowd in a scene reminiscent of his famous sprint out to right field to salute the adoring bleacher bums at the start of each home game.
Sammy's glee was apparent. As a guest on Ian Happ's The Compound podcast, recorded live in the ballroom Saturday morning, Sammy talked batting techniques and Cubbie memories with the Cubs leftfielder. After an enlightening and delightful half hour chat with the Happer, Sammy stuck around to sign autographs for dozens of youngsters who rushed the stage.
New Cubs rightfielder Kyle Tucker was Happ's first guest. The likable Tucker expressed his excitement about joining the organization, and Happ's skilled interview with the Cubs next lineup linchpin was a nice amuse-bouche for the Sosa main course.
Sosa's return electrified this year's Cubs Con and distracted from the currently lackluster landscape of Chicago sports. Sammy joked around with Andre Dawson, hugged Ryne Sandberg and Fergie Jenkins, and posed for selfies with PCA and other current players. Sosa seems ready to claim a role as a regular presence around the team, beginning with this summer's induction ceremony alongside Lee, his 2004 teammate.
Sammy's back, soothing the soul of every Cubs fan he thrilled during his 13 seasons on the North Side. Welcome home, Slammin' Sammy!
